Coeditor, Laboratorium: Russian Review of Social Research, 2011–present

  • Solicit and evaluate article manuscripts and proposals for thematic issues
  • Identify and correspond with outside peer-reviewers, participate in manuscript acceptance/rejection decisions
  • Communicate with authors regarding reviews, revisions, deadlines
  • Edit and copyedit article manuscripts for content, structure, style, and flow (in Russian and English; in sociology, anthropology, history, psychology, cultural studies, political science, geography, Slavic studies)
  • Fact-check and proofread English-language sections of the journal
  • Serve as lead editor for individual issues of the journal: select and edit articles for the issue, see them through the entire editing and production process
  • Design and update guidelines for submissions, peer review, internal work with manuscripts, other policies
  • Develop and implement online marketing strategies
  • Oversee printing-on-demand and targeted distribution of the journal in North America and the UK
  • Participate in raising funds for the journal

  • Researched possibilities of foreign publishing rights’ sales to Russian and Central European presses; identified suitable publishing houses, chose books to be pitched, translated book descriptions


Mastery of academic standards for writing, style, and citations (especially Chicago and APA styles)
